Mr. Feedback

“Whoever steps into the job would probably find Dr Tan —fondly and simply known as “Doc” to many — a hard act to follow. In his four years as the Unit’s first and only chief so far,the MP for Ayer Rajah has so established his credibility that he has come to stand for Feedback with a capital F and to personify the Unit in the eyes of the public”

Champion for the Underdogs

“He is indeed a very busy man,but he remains approachable. One of the most remarkable characteristics of his personality is his dauntless spirit of fighting for the underdogs.

His involvement with the disabled came at a time when accessibility to public places for the disabled was an issue of public attention.

While most people in public service would only pay lip-service in support of a barrier-free society,Dr Tan was prepared to put his money where his mouth is. He is an ardent believer that deeds speak louder than words.”

Teochew Rap:Tan Tan Tan

The following is an extract of the article:

“For the last month,Dr Tan Cheng Bock’s supporters successively recorded many short clips and loaded them onto YouTube. Dr Tan recounted memories on how he fought for Singaporeans on various issues such as:provision for using CPF for tertiary education, free parking on Sundays and Public Holidays, etc.

His supporters also uploaded a refreshing rhyming Teochew rap, singing praises of what Dr Tan Cheng Bock did for Singaporeans.

The rap goes as follow:

Wait Wait Wait,What are you waiting for? Tan Cheng Bock is the best!

Local talents are better than Foreign Talents!

Pay University Fees with CPF!

No headaches when it comes to parking on Sunday and Public Holidays!

‘C’Class wards are cheap and good!

Easy paths for the injured and disabled (referring more ramps for disabled)

Clever or ordinary kids are all good! (referring to streaming)

Wait Wait Wait,What are you waiting for? Tan Cheng Bock is the best!

Aiyoh,Singaporeans,What are you still waiting for?

You must remember our Dr Tan Cheng Bock!

“等等等,等什么?陈清木最好。本地人,好过外国人。CPF上大学,星期天和公共假日停车免烦恼。医院三号房(C级病房),又便宜又好。跛脚残废的,走路方便不怕跌倒。小孩念书厉害不厉害都好。等等等,等什么?陈清木最好。人品正直又有趣,又不怕PAP。等等等,等什么?陈清木最好。哎呀,新加坡人,你还在等什么?你要记得我们的陈医生。”

The less-than-one-minute Teochew rap is increasing in views and it is easily overtaking Dr Tan Cheng Bock’s proper video recordings in YouTube as it’s short and simple.

Other than creating awareness in the Internet and social media arena,Dr Tan Cheng Bock is also touching base with Singaporeans from all walks of life in anywhere he can such as:eating at hawker centres with his supporters during weekends, attending meetings with businessmen, taxi drivers, lawyers, etc. But with regards to the PAP party,he still chooses to keep a distance.”
