In his four years as the Unit’s first and only chief so far,the MP for Ayer Rajah has so established his credibility that he has come to stand for Feedback with a capital F and to personify the Unit in the eyes of the public”

Champion for the Underdogs | “He is indeed a very busy man,but he remains approachable. One of the most remarkable characteristics of his personality is his dauntless spirit of fighting for the underdogs. His involvement with the disabled came at a time when accessibility to public places for the disabled was an issue of public attention.
While most people in public service would only pay lip-service in support of a barrier-free society,Dr Tan was prepared to put his money where his mouth is. He is an ardent believer that deeds speak louder than words.” The Handicaps’ Digest HANDICAP WELFARE ASSOCIATION | | No Gutter Politics,Please –We’re SingaporeansElections is just around the corner. Political parties are fighting hard to win votes. They are revealing their manifestos, their agenda, showing their candidates’ strengths and making promises of change when elected. This is all part and parcel of campaigning. In the heat of political debates many unkind words may be spoken, accusations of wrong doings may be hurled at each other and challenges thrown at one another. All these can be expected. But as our nation has always pride itself for doing the right thing,I hope political parties can move a few notches up in their political debates and not resort to gutter politics to win votes. We must respect our voters who are now more educated and politically savvy. Then we will show the world that we have arrived also as a politically matured society . Your posting is timely. I wish Minister Dr Vivian B. can read your blog and stop his poorly disguised attempts to discredit his likely opponent in the coming GE,Dr Vincent W. of SDP,by casting aspersions on the latter’s sexual orientation. You’re absolutely right- “our voters are now more educated and politically savvy”–they can decide for themselves who to vote for to best serve them and their country, sexual orientation notwithstanding. Afterall,we have plenty of examples of crooked and inept politicians who are sexually straight.
I have utter contempt for Vivian Balakrishnan.
For all that he said and did (and failed to do) during his term in office,he truly deserves the sack. The latest episode further shows up Vivian’s character flaw –no integrity and honour. So how can he be the people’s representative in Parliament and a minister? It is ironic to put such a person in charge of the ministry that is directly in charge of community bonding and social well-being.
Good day Sir,wish we have more conscience awaken Ministers and MPs in the parliament,so our country and people of Singapore could be save from going down the path of degeneration. Hope you could share more wise words with the people of Singapore and provide more timely reminders to the ruling party. Thank you and wish you the pink of health.
We need more Singaporean politicians (be it PAP or opposition) like you,a good son of Singapore. Contest of ideas and viewpoints need not lead to demolishing the opponents who hold differences. We MUST stop antagonistic politics –talking of demolishing our opponents of ideas and beleifs. Why can’t we embrace them, allow them the space to put forward their argument. This is the only way to avoid what has happened in the Middle East, vilent rebellion due to long period of suppression by dictatorial and autocractic regimes.
I agreed with you whole-heartedly. There should not be any more threat, smears Ultimately,it is Singapore for Singaporean.
Would the politicians listen? I sense it is more toward individual’s ego, ignorance, arrogance and attachment to Power and…. in this election.
So is politics dirty? …or should I say Politics is reality.
My Respectable Sir,
With due respect, you should be running for the next Presidency.
You have my vote!
